When we begin to teach kids Body Safety we often ask them to express how they may be feeling. It is great to give them a voice and help them verbalise and identify their changing emotions. This downloadable sheet [Feelings] can be printed off for use.
One idea is to cut up the various face shapes and ask your child to choose one and draw how they are feeling, eg after school, a play date, other parent visit, etc. Once they have done this, ask, for example, "I see you have drawn a sad face, why do you feel this way? Can you tell me a little bit more about how you are feeling?" Give them time to talk about their feelings and emotions. Kids can also choose a face and place it on a daily graph to map their changing emotions.
