Sex offender registry not the answer

I sincerely doubt that sex offender registers have had, or every will have, a net positive effect on the safety of children. I suspect that they are only the answer if the question is 'How do we waste public money, placate the simple minded and facilitate witch hunts?'

Education is the key. We need to set up Child Sexual Abuse Prevention training programs to empower kids and teens to protect themselves as much as possible and to speak up if someone makes them uncomfortable or oversteps their bounds. Programs like radKIDs and others are great tools. Parents cannot be everywhere.

If we want bang for buck let's make age-appropriate Body Safety programs compulsory for all children and go from there.
